Merger update - Worcestershire Quarterly Commissioning Meeting

We have now launched a public consultation on proposals for the four Herefordshire and Worcestershire CCGs to merge. Further information and details on how to respond to the consultation can be found within the consultation document

Through the survey circulated last month we have begun to develop some Frequently Asked Questions for staff in relation to the merger proposals. These can be accessed here and will continue to be updated and communicated to you throughout this process.

As always, the Executive Leadership Team are available to speak 1-2-1 with anyone who wishes to raise anything directly with them. So please contact Simon Trickett, Jo Alner, Mari Gay or any of the other Directors should you wish to discuss anything at all.

A meeting will take place at Sixways Stadium in Worcester 25th June from 2:30 until 5pm to discuss in more detail the CCG merger proposal. The meeting is funded for one representative from each practice via PCE, however, more members are of course very welcome.

Please feel free to read the Consultation Document and contact sharonkendrick@nhs.net if you have any queries.

First Five Clinical Lead- Dr Mobeen Ahmed - Introduction

Sent on behalf of Dr Mobeen Ahmed:

'I would like to introduce myself as the designated Clinical Lead for First 5 GPs in our STP.

I was appointed earlier this year and I am passionate about raising the profile of our local first 5 GPs and helping them come together for mutual benefit and to allow sustainable general practice in our area.

I live and work in Hagley (located in the Wyre Forest area of Worcestershire) and feel strongly that our aspirations, career development and opportunities could be supported in a central way. The overall aim is to allow young GPs to feel welcome and valued so that going forwards the needs of our patients can continue to be met.

We have a tremendous pool of resource within our STP but often there is a perceived lack cohesion and shared opportunities for networking and learning. We are planning to have mentoring from experienced GPs, large scale events and also with time small group sessions. We have some high profile speakers planned to attend some of our key events, such as the Next Generation GP Programme.

To allow us to promote events, discussion and support for the First 5 cohort I would be grateful if those GPs who have completed their GP training within the last 5 years to email their details to the Primary Care Workforce Team sowoccg.workforce@nhs.net  . This will allow us to give access to the Team Clarity website for First 5 GPs and to contact you with events that we are holding soon. The emails will be picked up and the addresses added to our mailing list.

The Primary Care Workforce Team also have a Twitter account; @HWGPWorkforce if you want to follow for opportunities and support.

I look forward to meeting many of my First 5 colleagues at our upcoming events and if you have any suggestions as to what we can do to support you then please email the Workforce Team – sowoccg.workforce@nhs.net'.

GP Support Team – A Reminder

The CCGs and LMC have a well established GP Support Team in place, whose main focus is to respond to, and empower practices to make operational and team changes that directly and indirectly address challenges they are facing in the short to medium term.

The Team uses local, appropriate professionals’ expertise to ensure that practices are able to carry on functioning during times of crises, proactively intervening to minimise the impact of crises or where possible prevent crises occurring.

The GP Support Team can be accessed via the LMC or Sally Everton sally.everton@nhs.net at the CCGs.

IT Support - Restart Issues

Practices are reminded to raise a Support request to Computacenter for any computers that have failed to successfully restart. If a computer has not been restarted for a period of days, could the practice please look to choose a least disruptive point in the day to restart it to identify if IT assistance is required and raise a call accordingly.

A significant volume of computers have required IT Support to address restart issues following a security software patch deployment for compliance with NHS and Microsoft cyber security guidance. Where Practices find need to raise a support call in this respect, can they please ask that it be associated to incident 19093498 for support to site to be prioritised against this incident.
