CCG Merger Update and next steps

Following a member practice support of CCG merger, we are now progressing our merger application and implementing next steps.

Briefing on merger update and next steps can be accessed here.

TB Letters to Practices

Please find attached 2 letters that we would like to highlight to practices that will be going out to a number of Worcestershire residents and their GP’s following possible contact with a healthcare worker that has been diagnosed with tuberculosis. Screening of close contacts has been undertaken. Some patients may also be invited for screening but the Trust are still waiting further information before being advised if this is necessary.

A helpline will be set up for patients to call and details of this are within the patient letters.

Worcestershire Acute Hospital Trust are offering screening to immunocompromised patient contacts. If you believe that your patient has any conditions which make them more vulnerable to infection (please see appendix 1) and it is appropriate to screen them, please do let the Trust know by contacting the infection control team on 01905 733092 during office hours.

Retention Notice from Infected Blood Inquiry

Notice of retention/non-destruction of documents relating to the Independent Public Inquiry into Infected Blood and Blood Products (the Infected Blood Inquiry).

Enhanced Surgical Site Infection Surveillance

Worcestershire Acute Hospital Trust are carrying out enhanced surgical wound surveillance on elective Joint replacement and Trauma Joint replacements.

If a patient presents with possible signs of wound infection then we would be grateful if you could refer the patient in to Trauma clinic for urgent review by emailing WAH-TR.OPA-WRH-TandO@NHS.NET

Medicines Commissioning News

The Worcestershire Primary Care Antimicrobial Guidelines have undergone a complete revision and the changes are highlighted in the July-August edition of the Medicines Commissioning News.

'Dear Members and Non-members

The Committee is pleased to introduce Worcestershire Medico-Legal Society’s programme for the next academic year, starting in September 2018. The annual membership fee is now due. This is £30 for single membership, £50 for joint membership and £20 for 2nd year students (1st year students – no fee). With a wide range of topics, this represents excellent value for money, a chance to meet old and new contacts and a cost-effective and enjoyable means of continual professional development.

I attach a subscription letter giving details of the programme, an application form, a GDPR consent declaration, a map to the Jenny Lind building and a flyers for the meetings

The Committee look forward to seeing you at the meetings.
