Welcome to the Member Practice Update

This weekly Member Practice Update is produced by NHS Redditch and Bromsgrove, NHS South Worcestershire and NHS Wyre Forest Clinical Commissioning Groups for circulation in your practice, to provide you with essential guidance, information and useful support.

GP Mentoring Available for all GPs

What does GP Mentoring offer?

We are proud to announce a free mentoring service that is available for all GPs in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, including newly qualified GPs. The mentoring team can offer mentoring, support and signposting.

Who can use this service?

The service can be used by any GP who would like to explore ways to develop themselves. This could be personally, professionally or within their career. The aim is to provide mentors to support GPs in fulfilling their potential, whether this is in practice or in other leadership positions.

Early Career GPs

GP Mentors can offer support to help you:

  • Gain practical & academic experience in clinical leadership from local experts in the field
  • Build a network of expert contacts with medical and NHS management leaders
  • Enhance the skills & competencies that are essential for future primary care leaders
  • Develop competencies relevant to the domains defined in the developing regional Leadership Model
  • Develop & deliver a specialty or management driven project relevant to specific needs of Primary Care
  • Access a postgraduate qualification, for example, in Leadership or Medical Education


Qualified & Experienced GPs

GP Mentors can offer support to help you:

  • Access confidential peer support when at a crossroad in your career or personal life
  • Navigate through workload issues and practice dynamics and achieve a healthy work life balance
  • Explore challenges and obstacles and support you to find a way through them

Extend Access Posters and TV Screens

As part of promoting extended access, we have posters translated in to Polish, Portuguese and Lithuanian – please print and use where appropriate throughout your Practices.

West Mercia Police Child Exploitation: County Line

Child Exploitation is a Control Strategy priority for West Mercia Police. Key to this is to safeguard victims by knowing the indicators of victimisation and identifying how technology facilitates child exploitation.

THC Vape Warning 

Since the start of the year there have been a dozen or so reports of incidents in schools and amongst school age children in Bury, Rochdale and Oldham involving substances that were sold as either ‘THC vape’/‘THC vape pens’/‘THC oil’ or ‘cannabis oil’. The reports usually indicate the substance was vaped in an electronic-cigarette device. Some of these incidents have led to pupils collapsing and to ambulances being called.
